River Road Hopkins Vineyard Pinot Meunier 2012

This was a lucky find. More on that in a minute. Bright, translucent ruby in color with a pale pink rim. The nose is intoxicating; blueberry, baking spices, eucalyptus and a hint of menthol. The flavors are surprisingly rich; ripe raspberry, tart cherry, cola, oak and a touch of cocoa. Silky tannins. It has a wonderfully long, spicy finish.🍷

Loving this, and I can’t stop sipping. I give it 90 points IMHO. 👍

I was in Total Wine looking for a nice Pinot Noir. I was in a hurry, saw Pinot and Russian River Valley. That’s usually a good combo. It wasn’t till I got home that I noticed it was a Pinot Meunier. The Pinot Meunier grape is most used in Champagne production, not usually found in a single varietal bottling. Usually when I mess up things don’t work out so well. Sometimes you just get lucky.🍇
