Each Wednesday I try to find a quality wine that won’t bust the budget. Robert Mondavi Private Selection Heritage Red Blend 2016. I’ve become a fan of the Mondavi Private Selection lately. The Cab and the Pinot have been quite good so it’s time to try the Red Blend.
Pretty, translucent, bright ruby in color with a pale pink rim. The nose is vanilla, cedar, baking spices and floral – very nice and inviting. The flavors are mixed berry cobbler, vanilla, cranberry, cracked pepper and oak. Silky integrated tannins. Long, long finish that is both warming and spicy.
Very enjoyable. The Red Blend is a bit sweeter than both the Cab and the Pinot. But a lot can be forgiven for $10. A solid mid-week wine. I give it 87 points IMHO.
